Reininger 2004 Anomaly

Tasting Notes

This is Anomaly. In January of 2004, an Artic front descended upon eastern Washington devastating our Walla Walla Valley vineyards with 70-100% bud kill leaving Reininger winery with just one barell worthy of the Reininger name. This lone barrel of Seven Hills Vineyard Carmenere was blended with our finest 2004 Columbia Valley vineyard blocks; Cold Creek Cabernet Sauvignon and Stone Tree Petit Verdot. Lively acidity lifts currant, blackberry, cherry and strawberry fruit-leather, all supported by elegant soft tannins and wood tones coconut, carmel and vanilla. An exceptional wine from a very different vintage.
